This photograph was created on the occasion of my birthday, and its message begins with a deliberate contradiction. The phrase written on the cake, Too young for any shit, is a conscious alteration of the familiar expression Too old for that shit. By reversing it, the image questions the invisible rules that begin to govern our lives—especially women’s lives—once we cross the threshold of our thirties.
From a certain age onward, society seems to impose an unspoken script: how we should look, how we should behave, what we should desire, and what we should quietly abandon. Youthful aesthetics, playful tastes, softness, fantasy, or emotional openness are often dismissed as inappropriate, frivolous, or even ridiculous. Aging, we are told, should look serious, controlled, restrained.
This work pushes back against that narrative. The domestic scene—carefully staged, pastel-toned, and deceptively sweet—contains subtle tension. The fallen cake, the knife, the stillness of the cat, and the protagonist’s gaze all suggest a moment of pause rather than celebration. Beneath the surface charm lies a quiet resistance: a refusal to conform to prescribed versions of maturity.
At its core, Too Young for Any Shit speaks about reclaiming agency over desire and identity. For me, growing older does not mean relinquishing certain films, aesthetics, colors, or ways of dressing. On the contrary, the true magic of adulthood is the freedom to finally give myself what I was once denied. To choose joy, nostalgia, and softness not out of immaturity, but out of conviction.
This image is not about refusing to age—it is about refusing to age correctly. It embraces a naïve sensibility as a form of strength, and proposes that maturity is not a destination, but a personal construction. One that allows play, contradiction, and pleasure to coexist with time.

It is important to avoid direct contact with sunlight. If you want to save the artwork, instead of having it exposed, it should be done in a drawer and protected with a tissue paper or any other soft paper.
If you exhibit the artwork in a room, it must be protected by glass or methacrylate with UV protection.
If you want to frame it, the materials must be acid free as well as the passepartout. If the frame is made of wood and is in direct contact with the photo, it must be made of natural wood and without varnish.
Adhesives must also be acid free. If not, any other adhesive could leave yellow marks and deteriorate the support.
The work should never be touched directly with the hands in order to avoid leaving traces of grease or moisture. You have to touch it with cotton gloves like the ones that we enclose inside the package.
Do not screw the photograph back on after it has been removed from the tube in case you have received it like that.
Store the work in a cool, dry place preferably at a room temperature between 10º and 30º with a relative humidity between 49% and 60%.
If you have acquired more than one photograph, they should never be touched between them since the surface is very sensitive. You should always put a tissue paper or, at least, another soft paper between the both of them.
