The Project 01 – SKUL(P) exhibition brings together more than 20 national and international artists from different disciplines —from tattoo and painting to sculpture and street art— who reinterpret the SKUL(P), a faceted ceramic skull designed as a blank canvas.

Each artist transforms the piece with their own style, turning it into a unique and unrepeatable artwork. Visitors will discover a wide range of creative voices and aesthetic languages, exploring the boundaries between design object and contemporary art.

In French, 'femme coupée' means 'the woman cut' or 'fragmented.' However, in this photograph, we do not see a woman but a doll and its story.

This doll has lived through a madness: dancing, playing, and celebrating so much that it lost part of its body in the chaos. The vibrant colors, sparkling confetti, and its serene expression create a disturbing contrast, as if capturing the exact moment where fantasy and reality collide.

The image explores the tension between fragility and excess, the idea of losing oneself in pleasure until breaking, transforming into a character within their own surreal story.

SOBRE LA OBRA: The Big Brother reflexiona sobre el control constante al que estamos sometidos en la era digital. A través de una estética que mezcla lo pictórico con lo editorial, la fotografía representa una figura femenina —un autorretrato— envuelta en un cielo invadido por drones, símbolo contemporáneo del ojo que todo lo ve. La imagen, aparentemente inofensiva y estilizada, esconde una crítica al uso masivo de nuestros datos, a la pérdida del anonimato y a cómo la vigilancia se ha infiltrado en lo cotidiano bajo el disfraz de protección y comodidad. SOBRE LA OBRA: House of Vice es un autorretrato que reinterpreta el universo de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas desde una óptica barroca y decadente, inspirada en la estética del Rococó y en obras clásicas como Las Meninas de Velázquez. La protagonista —oculta tras una máscara de conejo negro— irrumpe en una estancia aristocrática con las paredes y techos ricamente ornamentados, como si se tratase de una madriguera palaciega. Su voluminoso vestido de tul desgarrado parece brotar del propio suelo, entre hiedras y hojas que invaden el espacio, difuminando los límites entre lo natural y lo artificial, entre lo real y lo onírico. La obra plantea una visión alternativa del famoso descenso de Alicia: en lugar de una caída al vacío, se nos presenta una aparición teatral dentro de un espacio suspendido en el tiempo. La figura se convierte en símbolo de deseo, misterio e insumisión, fusionando referencias al arte clásico con un imaginario contemporáneo cargado de simbolismo y crítica.

GLOBAL WARNING AUCTION ON CATAWIKI

Global warning is much more than a photograph: it is an artistic thermometer on climate change.

Inspired by Greek mythology, Pasiphae visually reinterprets the myth of the Cretan queen, mother of the Minotaur, as a symbol of desire, destiny, and transgression. In this self-portrait, Lídia Vives embodies a contemporary Pasiphae: a hieratic figure, crowned by metallic antlers that evoke both divine power and repressed animality.

She holds in her hands a black bull skull with white horns, a clear allusion to the fruit of her forbidden union: the Minotaur, a creature born of irrational passion. The scene is carefully constructed: the dark tones, the centralized composition, the surrounding reeds, and the subdued lighting place us in a ritualistic, timeless atmosphere, as if we were standing before a motionless oracle at the moment before a revelation.

The work engages with classical pictorial tradition and mythological tales from a feminist and symbolic perspective. Through photography, Pasiphae becomes an archetype of the hidden and repressed: a woman who, by giving in to desire, transforms the course of history.

FESTiFOTO es nuestra fiesta de la fotografía. Es un proyecto cultural que la Asociación Fotográfica Canalina de Aficionados puso en marcha hace más de una década con el objetivo de descubrir, compartir y disfrutar de todo aquello que se desarrolla en el mundo de la fotografía y el audiovisual. La imagen es, cada vez más, una parte fundamental de nuestra sociedad, presente en nuestro día a día, pero también ha sido desde siempre una fuente de inspiración para artistas de todo tipos que desarrollan su trabajo gracias a este arte.

Gracias a esta iniciativa, Canals se llena de fotografía para mostrar las tendencias de creación visual en las que participan artistas de todo el territorio nacional e internacional. Se pretende acercar al público la cultura del arte de la fotografía y despertar su interés en bien disfrutarla o bien formar parte de su creación.

Desde AFCA emprendemos la tarea organizativa del festival para que fotógrafos, fotógrafas y artistas de todas partes llenen nuestro espacio cultural, favoreciendo el encuentro e intercambio de experiencias visuales.

Lídia Vives is participating in Art Fair Daegu 2025 (South Korea), one of the most important contemporary art fairs in Asia. From May 15 to 18, her works will be on view at the EXCO venue in Daegu with Galeria Espai Cavallers.

5월 15일부터 18일까지, 그녀의 작품은 갈레리아 에스파이 카바예르스(Galeria Espai Cavallers)와 함께 대구 EXCO 전시장에서 전시될 예정입니다.

From May 2 to 6, 2025, Japanese artist Ryo Utsunomiya will present his solo exhibition Reverb at the Shikisai Gallery in Asago Art Village (Hyogo, Japan).

Ryo Utsunomiya is a renowned artist who explores wildlife photography as a form of artistic expression. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries, and he has received numerous international awards, including the Grand Prize at the MUSE Photography Awards 2024 (New York). Beyond his personal practice, he serves as a judge for international photo awards in Europe and New York, is the lead curator of a global photo-sharing community, and collaborates with music projects, educational programs, and outdoor brands.

Thanks to his generous invitation, I will participate in the exhibition as a guest artist, presenting a selection of my works. I am honored to be part of this event and to share space with such a versatile and committed artist.

El emblemático Palacete Huerto Ruano de la ciudad de Lorca, -declarado Bien de Interés Cultural en el año 1993-, comienza su programación para este 2025 con una exposición dedicada a la figura de la mujer en el arte, -CONTEMPORÁNEAS-, una muestra desarrollada desde el enfoque de la diversidad donde artistas de distintas generaciones, nacionalidades y disciplinas ofrecerán al espectador diferentes maneras de enfrentarse al concepto de lo femenino.

Diàlegs entre obres de les Galeries d’Art de Catalunya i la col·lecció del MORERA. Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Lleida 

Del 3 de desembre de 2024 al 12 de gener de 2025

Sis obres d’art, provinents de fons de galeries de l’associació Galeries d’Art de Catalunya (GAC), conviuen durant unes setmanes amb les obres de la col·lecció permanent del MORERA. Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Lleida. Són obres, de diverses disciplines i èpoques, que dialoguen amb peces concretes o que comparteixen la temàtica d’un àmbit i creen connexions estètiques i conceptuals i trobades inaudites al llarg de l’itinerari del Museu.

En el recorregut de les Visites inesperades al MORERA es barregen obres de contingut social amb altres que dialoguen de manera més formal amb la col·lecció del Museu.

La tercera edició de Visites inesperades és un projecte concebut per Galeries d’Art de Catalunya, en el marc de la Setmana de l’Art, un esdeveniment organitzat per aquesta associació. L’esdeveniment té lloc simultàniament al Museu de Montserrat, al Museu d’Art de Girona i al MORERA, amb sis obres per museu que s’infiltren a les col·leccions permanents.

Les 18 obres seleccionades són una prova de la diversitat i riquesa de la quarantena de les galeries associades, amb propostes molt diferents que van des de l’art antic fins a l’art modern i contemporani. Per aquesta raó, en l’itinerari que proposa Visites inesperades hi ha obres d’estils diferents i artistes de diverses generacions.

La petita instal·lació de l’artista Charo Corrales (Imaginart Gallery) reivindica el treball artesanal, el brodat, típicament realitzat per dones i invisibilitzat al llarg de la història, que dialoga amb el quadre de les planxadores de Carles Llobet Raurich.

En l’àmbit dedicat a l’art relacionat amb la Guerra Civil, s’hi ha afegit un dibuix de Juli González datat el 1939 (Artur Ramon Art), que representa a la pagesa Montserrat, una figura recurrent en l’obra de l’artista en aquest període, que simbolitza la resistència al feixisme.

L’elegant autoretrat de la fotògrafa Lídia Vives (Espai Cavallers) acompanya els dibuixos de Xavier Gosé. La geometria de la pintura de Dominica Sánchez (Pigment Gallery) s’ha infiltrat entre les recerques sobre l’espai d’Antoni Abad i Jesús Mauri, mentre que l’escultura mòbil del suís Lukas Ulmi (Villa del Arte Galleries), hereva de l’avantguarda, ho fa entre les obres de Leandre Cristòfol. En canvi, el minimalisme de la natura morta de Pere Formiguera (La GaLeRia Batlle Argimon) contrasta amb el majestuós barroquisme del bodegó de Marina Núñez.

Podríem dir que des de la prehistòria, els humans hem sentit la necessitat de deixar empremta. 
Si abans, els primers homes ratllaven a les cavernes dibuixos relatant el seu dia a dia, segles després, per la primera comunió, era costum que et regalessin un diari on faries exactament el mateix. Potser no parlaríem de l'animal que havíem caçat, però sí de les baralles a classe i dels primers amors. 
Pot semblar que els diaris són inicialment coses de nens o que, inclús, s'han passat de moda. Però la veritat és que, avui en dia, els humans insistim a conservar el nostre record per un futur: Ja sigui penjant fotografies a Instagram, queixant-nos a Twitter, xerrant per Whatsapp, practicant firmes en una llibreta, fent un grafiti... i alguns inclús vandalitzant monuments històrics professant amor etern per la seva parella (no ho feu mai. Vandalitzar, vull dir).

Queda clar, doncs, que les persones tenim la necessitat d'expressar-nos, gaudir dels records i fer saber a les futures generacions que nosaltres vam ser aquí.

En el meu cas, ho faig amb els autoretrats. Potser no queda massa lluny d'aquells que es fan un selfie... o potser sí.

El meu "Estimat Diari" es divideix en dues parts: en una les fotografies són d'uns colors molt vius, i amb una estètica semblant als anys seixanta (una època que ni tan sols he arribat a viure i que només puc imaginar amb l'ajuda de pel·lícules i fotografies de l'àlbum familiar). En l'altra, les imatges són principalment en blanc i negre i estan intervingudes amb bolígrafs de colors. Com quan un nen dibuixa un bigoti en un retrat.

En la primera part, explico històries de la meva vida de la forma més exagerada possible. Podríem dir que més que parlar de fets reals, s'hi basen. Interpreto un personatge com si una actriu hagués de fer de mi mateixa i em converteixo en una barreja de Barbie i Femme Fatale. 
A la segona part, no hi ha cap mena de trampa. El nu no podria ser més sincer i les històries són completament transparents. Amb l'ajuda del simbolisme, dels gargots i d'elements que pertanyen a la cultura pop, aquesta història pot ser tant meva com teva.
Com ja he dit al principi, els humans sempre hem volgut deixar empremta... i, com podeu veure, hi ha diverses formes de fer-ho.

Linz. Saisonstart in der Hartlauer Fotogalerie am Pöstlingberg: Den Auftakt macht ab Freitag, 1. März, die Ausstellung „Du. Und ich.“ rund um Porträts versus Selbstporträts.

Das menschliche Antlitz als Ausgangspunkt einer Reise ins unbekannte Ich. Ein gelungenes Porträt erlaubt den Blick auf intime, höchstpersönliche Bereiche. Es macht Unsichtbares sichtbar. Es legt den Charakter, das Innerste eines Menschen, frei. Und stets ist es die Kreativität des Fotografen, die den Unterschied macht: zwischen simplem Konterfei und aussagestarkem Bildnis.

Die Ausstellung „Du. Und ich.“ beschäftigt sich mit dem Interagieren einer Person mit anderen oder sich selbst im Bild. Und reflektiert zugleich die Konfrontation der abgebildeten Person mit den Betrachtern. Denn die Betrachter sind die eigentliche Instanz: Sie sind Richter über den präsentierten Bildsachverhalt.

Die Ausstellung kann bis 28. April besichtigt werden.
