Santa Rebeldía is a contemporary reinterpretation of Spanish folklore, exploring how traditional cultural symbols can be transformed through the language of fashion, irreverence, and modern identity.

The photograph draws inspiration from the visual heritage of Spain, particularly the mantilla, the peineta, and the religious imagery deeply embedded in its cultural traditions. Historically associated with solemnity, ceremony, and devotion, these elements are removed from their conventional context and reimagined through a bold, contemporary aesthetic.

The protagonist wears an elaborate black lace mantilla and holds a rosary, while round sunglasses, dark lipstick, and a defiant expression disrupt the expected image of traditional femininity. The Sacred Heart, highlighted in red against the monochromatic composition, introduces a striking visual accent that reinforces the connection between historical iconography and modern artistic expression.

Rather than mocking or rejecting tradition, Santa Rebeldía celebrates its aesthetic richness and its potential for reinvention. The photograph suggests that cultural heritage does not need to remain frozen in time to preserve its significance. The artwork is carefully prepared, professionally packaged and shipped with tracking and insurance.

Import duties, customs clearance charges and local taxes outside the European Union are payable by the collector.

It is important to avoid direct contact with sunlight. If you want to save the artwork, instead of having it exposed, it should be done in a drawer and protected with a tissue paper or any other soft paper.

If you exhibit the artwork in a room, it must be protected by glass or methacrylate with UV protection.

If you want to frame it, the materials must be acid free as well as the passepartout. If the frame is made of wood and is in direct contact with the photo, it must be made of natural wood and without varnish.

Adhesives must also be acid free. If not, any other adhesive could leave yellow marks and deteriorate the support.

The print should only be handled with cleat cotton gloves in order to avoid leaving traces of grease or moisture. You have to touch it with cotton gloves like the ones that we enclose inside the package.

Do not roll the photograph again after it has been unrolled.

Store the work in a cool, dry place preferably at a room temperature between 10º and 30º with a relative humidity between 49% and 60%.

If you have acquired more than one photograph, they should never be touched between them since the surface of the print is delicate. You should always put a tissue paper or, at least, another soft paper between the both of them.
