Rapunzel

This photograph reinterprets the classic tale of Rapunzel, moving away from the imagery of the captive princess to question inherited roles and passive narratives. In a setting of opulence—surrounded by flowers, fruits, and fabrics that evoke a baroque pictorial universe—the central figure stands tall and in control. Her long, luxuriant hair is no longer a mere tool for rescue, but an ambivalent symbol: at once a burden and a source of power.

Traditionally, Rapunzel has been depicted as a victim, forced to endure the ascent of her savior by means of a braid she never chose to offer. But what if the story were different? What if that braid were, in fact, a staircase woven by her own will? What if she were not waiting to be rescued, but instead building her escape?

This image proposes an alternative reading of the tale—one where the question is not who will save her, but how much of her own destiny she has chosen to weave. A visual reflection on autonomy, the body as a territory of resistance, and the right of women to rewrite their stories.

The artist reserves the right to produce up to two Artist Proofs for each artwork in addition to the edition sizes listed.

The photograph is printed directly onto 2mm acrylic with a 3mm reinforcing aluminum panel. Printing is the latest generation of direct UV printing with 7 inks, including clear inks, so that the images have the highest quality and sharpness.

The hanger bracket is an aluminum frame.

It comes protected with a plastic that covers the screen so that scratches do not appear. When you receive the photo, you simply have to remove it and you will find the work in perfect condition and also brighter.

Caring for the work is very simple, you just have to use a clean cotton handkerchief and moisten it with water.

The artwork is shipped flat in a cardboard box and well protected with bubble wrap.
