Kitschy Girly explores the quiet tension between adulthood and playfulness, questioning the invisible social rules that dictate how we are expected to behave as we grow older.
The work was inspired by an ordinary moment: a visit to a café where embossed flower stickers were left on the counter for customers. On impulse, one was placed on the artist’s face–an innocent, almost childlike gesture that immediately provoked the question: “You’re really going out like that” That spontaneous reaction became the starting point for a broader reflection on the arbitrary boundaries we place around joy, self-expression and age.
The portrait embraces an unapologetically playful aesthetic. Colourful gems scattered across the face, an exaggerated blond wig and an abundance of soft flowers create a deliberately kitsch visual language that celebrates excess rather than restraint. Instead of treating these elements as signs of immaturity, the image reclaims them as expressions of freedom and individuality.
Beneath its vibrant surface, Kitschy Girly reflects on the curious contradiction that society often celebrates eccentricity in childhood and old age, while expecting adults to abandon the very same impulses in favour of restraint and convention. The work asks why simple acts of delight become socially conditioned by age, and whether growing up should really require giving up the freedom to play.
Balancing the aesthetics of contemporary fashion photography with subtle social commentary, the image invites the viewer to reconsider how identity is shaped not only by personal choices, but also by the unwritten expectations that quietly govern everyday life.

It is important to avoid direct contact with sunlight. If you want to save the artwork, instead of having it exposed, it should be done in a drawer and protected with a tissue paper or any other soft paper.
If you exhibit the artwork in a room, it must be protected by glass or methacrylate with UV protection.
If you want to frame it, the materials must be acid free as well as the passepartout. If the frame is made of wood and is in direct contact with the photo, it must be made of natural wood and without varnish.
Adhesives must also be acid free. If not, any other adhesive could leave yellow marks and deteriorate the support.
The work should never be touched directly with the hands in order to avoid leaving traces of grease or moisture. You have to touch it with cotton gloves like the ones that we enclose inside the package.
Do not screw the photograph back on after it has been removed from the tube in case you have received it like that.
Store the work in a cool, dry place preferably at a room temperature between 10º and 30º with a relative humidity between 49% and 60%.
If you have acquired more than one photograph, they should never be touched between them since the surface is very sensitive. You should always put a tissue paper or, at least, another soft paper between the both of them.
